we find ourselves continuing towards Court Sant'Andrea, where the transi- tum padi is found and described Si- geric as the only ford to face in more than two thousand kilometers of travel. Today it is only for pilgrims on foot … for everyone else, it’s possible to cross by ferry. With regret, we leave the sweet- ness of these lands and dive into the chaotic swirling of the Emilia Way. Piacenza, Fiorenzuola, to visit the magnificent Cistercian Abbey of Chi- aravalle della Dove with its beautiful cloister where travellers of all eras continue to find refreshment and peace before resuming the way. We came across Fidenza, with its beautiful cathedral, before returning to landscapes more responsive to the spirit of a path of faith. The route lapped the River Park of the Taro that we crossed at the gates of Fornovo before arriving in Berceto at night. The following day we found ourselves on the road of Cisa; one of the most beautiful steps of the Parmesan prov- ince and one of the most loved mo- torcycle roads in Italy for its smooth surface and plentiful curves. Leaving Emilia we entered Ligu- ria and Tuscany via the SS62 and are immediately welcomed to this region that is most loved for its culture and TRAVERSE 62 landscapes. It’s here, at the bottom of the Aulla descent, that we come across the archaeoligical site of the Roman colony of Luni at the mouth of the Magra river. We rode amongst the Apuane Alps, imperious and wild, becoming lost in landscape and time. Time seems to change as we enter Pietrasanta with its bizarre sculptures that see it as one of the world’s cen- tres for modern art. A stretch of gold and we found ourselves at the gates of Lucca, surrounded by beautiful walls that seem to want to embrace all tenderly.
