Towns and villages alternate along
the road and that’s the way we rode
along the alleys of Montestrutto so
as to admire its 1,100-year-old castle
from below. Following the SS26, we
reached Ivrea, famous for the Olivetti
trademark, and that since 2018 is con-
sidered by UNESCO as the “the ideal
industrial city of 20th century”.
The SP263 to Palazzo Canavese
introduced us to the landscapes of the
Piedmont plain. Provincial streets,
surrounded by greenery and small
housing units that, one after anoth-
er, we crossed while around us the
countryside was full of expectations
for the next harvest. The vineyards
created articulated waves, curves and
a sea of green that descended towards
the lake.
From Cavaglià, in the province of
Biella, began the beautiful stretch
that although through streets at times
were dirt, as it entered the biellese
countryside; a plain cultivated mostly
with rice and wheat, a sea of greenery
