book, he’s been about everywhere on
two wheels, several times.
Alex was super easy-going as he
pulled out some giant printed maps
where he pinned down his own trav-
els, coming up with some tips for my
further route towards Australia.
Borneo is the only place where one
can cross between Malaysia and In-
donesia overland, which sure makes
the process of entering an island-only
country like Indonesia easier.
Upon reaching the border, the
officials didn’t really know what to
do with my Carnet. Over lunch they
eventually stamped the document
and curiously proceeded to check out
the BMW.
“Nice bike, sir!”
Within half an hour or so, I was
officially in Indonesia! And almost
immediately realised that this coun-
try was more crowded than its neigh-
bour.
