For only the second time in GS Trophy history, two of
the teams will be all female, such was the quality of com-
petition during the qualifying in Málaga, Spain.
Thirty-one women representing twenty countries from
all over the world competed for one of the six places on
offer in what will be the seventh running of the presti-
gious BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy, to be held
in New Zealand in February 2020.
Prior to the event BMW Motorrad had guaranteed plac-
es for three women (one team) in the New Zealand com-
petition, but such was the standard that a second team
of three deserved to be included. This was announced
prior to the third day of competition so that each could
do their utmost to qualify.
The leader board reshuffled numerous times through-
out the final days competition and with it came joy and
heartbreak as the six finalists were determined.
The day started after a second cold night under canvas
however, the sun was soon up, warming the land and the
competitors for a fierce battle.
Competition started with a full lap of the quarry at
Enduro Park Andalusia including a succession of chal-
lenges along the way. This started in a parkour area with
a slalom, followed by a figure of eight, then a succession
of angled railway sleepers to ride lengthways, before
