custom builder. Mutt specialises in small capacity bikes,
harking back to the glory days of British manufacturers.
Their bikes are small, bespoke, handcrafted and yet,
accessible to everyone. It seemed like a perfect match to
Liam … perhaps not to the team at Mutt.
“I think at first they were sceptical their bike could
hold up,” Liam laughs. “They didn’t know the details of
the terrain and if it could handle it.
“I was ultra-confident,” he laughs again. “I’d just fin-

“I did like the idea of making an extra adventure of it
… it added an extra kooky challenge to the whole thing,”
Liam suggests that the Fuel guys were prepared to give
him a bike in Morocco however he wanted that other side
of the ride and laughs as he adds, “England to Africa has
such a nice ring to it.”
Fuel recommends that any bike that enters Scram
Africa should be no smaller than a 400cc, not possible,
Mutt only make 250cc bikes and so the plan was to desert
proof one of their Fat Sabbath Mutt’s. Liam liked the idea
knowing he would have a unique bike for the event.
“The bike was super light and nimble, and could
handle everything I threw at it,” Liam explains fondly. “I
