storage vestibule for a closet but covering the walls is alien themed wallpaper. Yes, aliens. And keeping on the alien theme, they even have the game Alien Autop- sy – a spin off of Hasbro’s famous Operation game. I didn’t pull it out but I suppose if you ever wanted to have carnal knowledge of an alien this is the perfect place to find out. I won’t judge. It’s late June and with tempera- tures in the mid-90s, it was as hot as an oven with all my riding gear. So, the next thing I do is strip down. The property has a Japanese style hot/cold plunge which is the perfect place to unwind after a long ride. It is in the pool where I finally get to meet co-owner Monica Coleman. She and a friend are working on in- stalling a new pump. But no sooner did they start before they realize they are missing a splitter, so they go back to Home Depot before finishing the installation. Such is the life of mote- TRAVERSE 55 liers, there is always something to fix and do! Kate’s Lazy Meadow doesn’t have any food and beverage facilities, but there are several restaurants nearby and Nathalie at the desk will more than happily make a recommenda- tion. The cabins and several suites have kitchenettes and there is a gro- cery store and great little wine shop just two miles down the road. The entire place is very much like a cottage community where if you wish you can talk with others but no one is offended if you stay to yourself. My next-door neighbours, in Suite 2, are Michael from Virginia and Chris from Atlanta. The irony here is in Love Shack the song, the destination is 15 miles from Atlanta, yet Chris has travelled over 1,000 miles to be here. We have a nice conversation although they can’t pronounce ‘Motelorcycle.’ Chris is wearing a Stacey Abrams T-shirt so I assume they are a pair of southern democrats out to find more
