It’s not an area that has been ruined
by tourism, respectfully it remains as
natural as possible. And for that rea-
son, it is a very special experience.
Walking amongst the protected
dunes there’s a presence; nothing sin-
ister, just a presence, almost watching,
hoping that the visitors are respectful.
The ground is littered with remains,
mostly animal, bones scattered ev-
erywhere. Some of the remains are
recent however, many are ancient and
provide a clear indication to what the
fauna was like so long ago.
Tools, fireplaces and meeting sites
are all represented too. At first not
so obvious however, with the aid of
a guide it becomes apparent that this
place could’ve been as busy as any
present-day city or town. The black,
fatty stains in the compressed sands
are clear enough to see that a fire was
present, a place where animals were
cooked, where people sat chatting
about the day’s events.
Look harder and you’ll see tools.
