ficult but very fun game, and Ricardo
showed us he was by no means a be-
ginner.
In the morning we grabbed some
delicious cups of coffee at Le k'fée be-
fore heading a short distance into the
Salento Wax Forest.
As soon as we got out of town we
found ourselves on a fantastic, wind-
ing two lane road into the mountains.
We passed several Willys packed with
tourists hanging off the back and soon
hit the end of the pavement. This is
where everyone got off and walked
into the park … not us!
We continued, bouncing up and
down the rocky path for about a kilo-
meter, leading us to some spectacular
views of the valley, filled with Quindio
Wax Palms, which are Colombia's na-
tional tree and also the world's tallest
palm tree. The area was beautiful, and
evoked a different time, untouched by
modern life.

est, we continued our ride South, with
a quick detour to visit our friends at
Steel Horse Finca Filandia, a quaint
farm converted into an overlander's
paradise. There you can take coffee
tours, play with the farm animals, and
just relax with other riders over a beer.
After our visit we hit the road hard,
making good time back to Ricardo's
home in Cali where he helped us find
some spare parts before we continued
