Kathmandu Airport was now shut un-
til the next morning.
That evening was the farewell din-
ner for the group that had just arrived
back from the second leg of the trip
and it was time to say goodbye. Al-
though I didn’t get to journey with
them, I did make some great friends
out of it.
With the next group arriving the
next day and having a chance to meet
and greet them was great, and defi-
nitely made me want to call the office
back at home and quit my job so that
I could continue with them. Unfortu-
nately, with my own personal journey
needing attention, I had to wish them
all a safe and exciting adventure and
to carry on with mine.
An overnight stay, at an amazingly
beautiful and tranquil place, was the
recharge I needed before the long
journey back home.
What I have told you here is only
a fraction of what happened. I have
enough content to write a book on
this 6-day event alone. But who has
time for that? This experience has
taken enough of my time and energy
to make me not want to talk about it
again. And although, this trip was not
what I expected it to be, I will eventu-
ally go back, but not too soon in the
future.
Since I've been back home, I have
been in contact with both families.
Getting the passport released was
quite the task apparently, and the sto-
ry has still yet to end. It is great to hear
that although there is a long road to
recovery for both, they are doing well.
I've been asked several times, that if
I had to go through the same situation
would I walk away? Well, after having
some time to think about it, I don’t
think I could walk away, but I would
definitely do things differently …
of a lot.
