Hit The Road, Jac!
Jacqui Furneaux
2017
R
Starting Hit The Road, Jac! was an amazing feeling, imme-
diately it felt like becoming an addict, a chapter at a time was
never going to be enough ... yet worse at some point it would
end ...
That's exactly what happened within the first few pages
as we find Jacqui falling in love; with travel, with India, with
people.
Initially Jacqui is reliant on others yet a series of mis-ad-
ventures in love quickly become the adventure of a life time.
Her honest, compelling way of writing sucks the reader in
and you quickly become a fellow traveller. At times you'll
laugh with Jacqui and at others you will want to scream,
"what the hell are you doing?" Yet the whole time you'll be
thankful for the experience.
The beauty of Jacqui's travels is that there's no plan, no rea-
son, no time keepers. If it takes a week, a month, even a year
to get to the next destination then so be it. Jacqui's travels are
about exploring, experiencing, about being.
Over a period of seven years on the road Jacqui opens her
heart, her soul and her eyes to what's around her and a flood
of experiences come rushing in. Through a way of telling the
story that is both descriptive and real we are swept up and
become a part of the flood. It's refreshing.
As the addiction that is Hit The Road, Jac! draws you fur-
ther in, you ride the highest of highs and the deepest of lows,
at times floating in an euphoric haze and at others gasping
for air, wanting out but always coming back for more.
Gradually it comes to an end and the ride is over, and if Hit
The Road, Jac! is a drug,
then we want some more ...
please Jac, hit the road ...
one more time, please ...
