the Ecuadorian border soon came into view and with it the many oil fields, slipped in amongst the banana, cacao and rice plantations. Crossing the border brought American dollars, the Ecuadorian currency has used American notes since 2000 al- though does use its own coins. The adventure came to an end as Gilles reached Colombia, where he found bad traffic, cocaine busts and lots of cycling he started thinking, "Now for the next adventure …" GR & Traverse From Quebec, Canada, Gilles has amazing stories of travel and adventure.
