The Journey Will Continue:

S
hockwaves reverberated around the adven-
ture motorcycle community when Touratech
AG announced they were filing for bankrupt-
cy.
Touratech AG, the German parent of the
international
brand, has stated that this
process comes after fol-
lowing advice from their
lawyers, and following
guidelines within Ger-
man bankruptcy rules,
allows the business to re-
structure and reorganise
assets so that the brand
can continue to trade and
service customers.
International distribu-
tors were unaware of the
cash flow issues being suf-
fered by the parent com-
pany which, Touratech
says was brought on by
supply not being met, in
the growing adventure
market, due to a new logistics centre being constructed .
Touratech's international distributors have not been af-
fected by the proceedings in German and many have been
quick to point out that it is business as usual however, we
understand that there has been some delays on orders in
certain markets.
Coming weeks will determine how serious the issue is
and what effect it will have on the motorcycle manufactur-
TRAVERSE
ers who rely on Touratech for accessories and equipment.
Both the parent company and international distributors
have made it clear that the focus is to service new and ex-
isting customers.
While it seems that it could be business as usual an area
that has left some con-
cern to customers is that
of warranty on Touratech
products. The company
has been quick to make it
clear that there should be
no problems with warran-
ty claims and such claims
on new products sold will
be dealt with after the in-
solvency formalities have
been dealt with.
Third party products
sold under the Touratech
banner see their war-
ranties remain the same
and are not affected by
the legal procedures as
they will be covered by
the manufacturer, as has
been the case in the past.
At this stage it's business as usual for Touratech and
their customers, they'll continue to offer high quality
products to the adventure motorcycle market while work-
ing through the financial and legal issues to ensure that
they can continue to service 'our' community.
