BMW Are Here To Save The World

The worldwide sale of motorcycles seems to

be in rapid decline , millennials simply aren ' t buying two wheeled machines . That ' s what USA giant , Harley Davidson , would have you believe . The fact is , this is quite different to the truth , and is almost laughable .
BMW Motorrad has just posted a record high number of sales for the first half of 2017 , a staggering 9.5 % greater than the same time last year . The German manufacturers fifth consecutive year of growth in its motorcycle division .
It seems that while the traditional Harley Davidson market is in somewhat of a decline , BMW Motorrad have tapped into two areas of motorcycling that are seeing strong interest from the community ; retro styled machines and those more suited to long distance travel .
" For all of us at BMW Motorrad it is a great pleasure and a confirmation of all our efforts that our customers continue to show us that we are on the right track with our model initiative ", said Stephan Schaller , BMW Motorrad general director , via press release .
The impressive BMW sales have seen continued growth in their R1200GS & GSA models despite declines in the British market .
TIGERS SPOTTED IN INDIA
Britain ' s largest motorcycle manufacturer have released a new model onto the Indian market . Triumph Motorcycles ' Indian subsidiary launched the Tiger Explorer 1200 XCx three weeks ago .
Triumph India believes they have the capability to take on the BMW R1200GSA and Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro in what is a massively growing area of the India market .
DIRT CHEAP , TINY V-STROM TO HIT THE ROAD
Announced last year , Suzuki will roll out a new bike in the ' adventure ' range with a 250 V-strom ready for European showrooms in October .
The little ' strom is powered by a 248cc parallel twin and offers just under 25bhp and 23.4Nm of torque . Suzuki suggests it has a range of almost 500 kilometres from a single tank .
The bike comes with all the features you ' d expect
from a much larger bike and has optional extras like hard luggage , centre stand and hand guards .
LEANER , MEANER MULTISTRADA
It seems Ducati will increase the capacity of their 1200 Multistrada while pulling back on some of the weight . The new bike will see a capacity increase of 60cc while the weight will be reduced by around 10kg meaning it could possibly dip below 200kg total .
Release dates of the 1260 are not yet known however , it is expected that it could be some time late in 2018 .
