A SHY LITTLE BOY , A LITTLE BIKE ...
And a hell of a lot of generous strangers

" Which of the places you visited was your most favourite ," the most asked question of me after finishing my ride . A hard question to answer , every place was unique , special in its own right however , it wasn ' t a place that left a lasting impression . It was an event at one of the destinations .
Along the route , I tried to visit as many national parks as I could . One of them was Mount Saint Helens ( Washington , USA ). I was actually looking forward to visiting it .
I remembered watching the eruption unfold on television as a child . I thought it would be cool to see it up close , to see the after effects of such force that only Mother Nature can bring .
When I finally got there , I was disappointed that you can ' t actually get close to the great volcano . The viewing area is quite a way from the eruption area , you really can ' t see the damage that the eruption had caused .
Instead of rushing off to the next stop on my trip , I hung out in the parking lot to rehydrate , to snack on some food . While there I noticed this little red headed boy that kept eyeing my bike . I could tell he wanted to get up close and ask me some questions about it . He was just too shy to get close to me .
So , his parent decided to get his John Deere pedal car out of the truck for him to ride around .
As soon as he jumped onto it , he rode right up to me and started asking me a million questions about my little ' Tdub ' ( Yamaha TW200 ). He was especially pleased that I had a name for it , actually he was bummed that he didn ' t have one for his tractor and started pondering on a name . While he ummed and ahhed , I leant down and asked him if he wanted to race . Boy , he lit up like a Christmas tree . I started up my bike and revved the engine to show him that I mean business .
