Mark works solely on domestic violence cases . Mark had been notified via a congratulatory letter that he was successful in his application to become a White Ribbon Ambassador . On that very same day he was advised that his 18 year old daughter had been killed in a car accident . In a horrible twist , the offending driver had just had a domestic argument with his partner and took off in a fit of rage , lost control and ran head on into Mark ’ s daughter .
In Karratha ( Western Australia ) I was made an honorary " token " member of the Pilbarra Motorcycle Sisters ( PMS ), a group of like-minded women ( and now one man ) who love to ride and empower women .
I feel that I have achieved something that Tash and Di would have been proud of and perhaps those women that do not have a platform to have their voices heard .
My ankle is still sore but this is nothing compared to the pain that some women go through on a daily basis .
Would I do it again ? Yes ! Only if I had a purpose for doing so and even then I would take a different , more inhabited route . I would also need a riding buddy . And , I would totally recommend a back-up vehicle , preferably with a portable butt-massager .
Taking this on , I discovered that People do still care about People . None more evident than the support that was bestowed
upon me from my community and workplace fundraisers .
I received sponsorships in the areas of fuel and accommodation .
This ride wouldn ' t have been possible without the support of Sam Johnson , who from the concept phase to where I am today has done an amazing job of keeping me focussed when external pressures were having an impact on my thoughts . She literally rode with me every day , albeit on a different level ... along with two other special ladies . IP
