TRAVERSE THE TOP OF THE WORLD Riding a motorcycle across the globe, has definitely become a more popular way to travel, escaping the daily grind we call life. For some, using a tour operator isn’t their cup of tea, and quite often sneer at the thought of using one. There is a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ logistics that takes place in putting a tour together, that many rarely see or appreci- ate. I once upon a time thought that tour operators were a waste of time and money, then I became part of the team and saw firsthand what is involved. At age 40, I decided that I needed to do something totally outrageous and out of my comfort zone. I’d only had my license for a little over 12 months before I tackled the mighty Himalayas, and without a tour operator, there was no way I would have ever considered doing anything like it. With today’s busy lifestyle, it is sometimes difficult to find a healthy balance; trying to organise an escape with a difference can certainly be time consuming and a little overwhelming.
