plished! Before leaving for this trip, I had really looked forward to meeting other motorcyclist along the way. In- credibly, I had to travel all the way to Namibia, before Vincent from Canada chased me down in Swakopmund, on his Suzuki DR. We had lunch and spent a few delightful hours together, before taking off in different direc- tions. Possibly travelling at the wrong time of the year however, speaking to the owners of some of the places I’d stayed they all mentioned that they had hosted fewer motorcyclists in 2018. This trip was lifechanging for me … literally! It provided a new zest for life, with the promise of wonderful things still ahead. It also made me realise what is important and what’s not. Mark Twain summed it all up, when he so eloquently declared: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness”. I could easily have spent a cou- ple of weeks in Botswana, in the world-famous Okavango Delta, and many incredible nature parks. Crossing the border from Namibia at the diamond town *Isak Dinesen, the pseuodonym for of Oranjemund, felt like going home. Danish author Karen Blixen, wrote Out Of I absolutely love South Africa, aptly named the “Rainbow Nation” because Africa in 1937. The autobiographical account of Blixen’s life in Africa during the early 20th of its diverse population of some 50 Century was later turned into a major film in million people. 1984, winning several Academy Awards. November 18, 2018 saw me arrive at the southernmost point of Africa, Cape Agulhas.
