Sounds simple enough, in theory, if Jacqui had been a planner. She’s not! Years later she made it home after having ridden around the world. “My Enfield has taken me all over the world,” there’s that infectious laugh again. “We have ridden about 70,000 kilometres together. Originally from India to the UK through twenty countries. “There have been many other journeys in and near Europe. We recently returned to Australia because, not only did we like it so much the first time, I had fallen in love again.” Although Jacqui has found love again there’s no deny- ing that when chatting you get the feeling that her first love is her Enfield. There’s a bond, without realising she speaks fondly of her bike, like talking of a child, a favour- ite pet, a best friend. “My Enfield has been a constant and loyal companion since I bought it.” “We have been all over the world together. We look after each other. It is very special to me. It represents my freedom and brings me joy,” she continues, perhaps realising herself that the bike is her love. TRAVERSE 36
