What We Did In The Freezing Nation!
We did quite a lot of things in the country of Iceland. From sleeping in the Airport to trying dried (but otherwise un cooked) fish and bathing in a luxuriouse hot spring!
Our flight arrived at 11:00 Icelandic time. It took us a while to use the bathroom, get all of our carry ons and enter the duty free area of the airport. Then we got a dinner and headed to baggage claim. However, they seemed to have left our bags in New York JFK. We didn't have a tent because it was in the bag and every other hotel was full or super expensive. So we crashed on the airport floor. We were woken up by this jerkish Icelandic guy (the people in Iceland were jerks) who told us to leave. So we groggily packed up our stuff and went to the coffe shop. We waited to 8 and then went to find our bags. We got them in the end but when we stepped outside, we realized it was too cold to camp. So we rented a car and went in trips to put our stuff in a locker where we would keep it until our flight left for Copenhagen. Then, we got in the car and made a few calls before finding an apartmnet to stay in. We drove there and zonked out all day. Then, the next day, we wandered around town (we woke up at around noon) and got some coffee. The next day, we made our way to the Blue Lagoon spa and we went in. It was very touristy. There was a huge building and you could get in this pool inside so you didn't have to go out in the cold and damp to get in when you were just wearing a bathing suit. The pool was awesome. It was scalding hot in some parts but these drifted and it was always warm even if not hot in all parts. The one down side is it smelled like sulfer. There were stations where you could do a free self serve Silica facial and bridges connected every section. There was an awesome cave and a door you could slide under. After that, we drove to Selfoss and stayed in a youth hostel. The pictures on the walls just go to show that Europeans like nudity a lot more than Americans. Get a room paintings!!!! The next day we drove to the town of Vik where a volcanoe had erupted and watched a video bout the eruption. Than we went back to our first apartment and crashed. The next day, we flew out of Keflavik. One more thing, we went to the worlds coolest outdoor swimming pool. It had a massive water slide and tubes you could balance on to get onto the other side.
