Marco Polo's Family is one of the most intresting ones in history, and also filled with the explorer spirt.

Niccolo Polo was Marco's father, and was also an European to reach Asia. He was a succesful jewel trader in Venice, and was away for much of Marco's early life. He was kept in China as he impressed Khan, who was the Mongol leader. He stayed with Khan in the court for several years.

Maffelo Polo was Marco's uncle, and accompined Niccolo on his journey to Asia. He was also a jewel trader, and just like Niccolo, impressed Khan with his knowledge. He stayed with Niccolo in the court.

Marco Polo's mother died when Marco was young, leaving him to grow up in an extended family while his uncle and father stayed in Europe.

When his family finally returend from Asia, Niccolo and Maffelo brought young Marco with them now on the second trip, as when

Marco, as his close family was away, wished to go to Asia with his uncle and father as well.

So when Marco's family left, they were unknowingly giving Marco the spirit he needed for his journey.
