Adventuring Our World

The Great

B l u e H o l e

The Great Blue Hole is a large submarine sinkhole off the coast of Belize. During the last Ice Age, when sea levels were much lower, the Great Blue Hole was a limestone cave. Though as the ocean began to rise, the caves flooded, and the roof collapsed creating what we now call, "The Great Blue Hole". Over the past years, scuba divers from all over the world have gone into this great underwater hole to explore its insides. [To the right you'll see a diagram of what the hole looks like inside. You can see scuba divers and several sharks]. Though this hole is not recommended for begginer scuba divers. However, that shouldn't stop you from visiting this natural wonder. Besides scuba diving, you can also visit the Blue Hole to either just hang and watch and maybe swim at the top, or you can go skydiving.

Overtime, skydivers have chosen to skydive above the Great Blue Hole not only because it makes their skidiving a little more extreme and adventurous, but also because while floating down, they get a relaxing experience and a great view watching the Great Blue Hole from above.
