Armed with a stable of fly rods from C.F. Burkheimer, Jason Atkinson and Pat Hoglund
traveled to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska for a steelhead trip that was epic in every way
imaginable. There to write about the adventure, and produce a film with The Narrative
Creative group, they traveled 40 miles on the beach in a Polaris side-by-side to reach
their final destination, a comfortable steelhead camp provided by Aleutian Adventures.
Along with guide Gray Struznik, they not only experienced some of best steelhead fly
fishing known to man, but shared space with brown bears, red foxes, bald eagles and
countless species of sea ducks and geese. Along the way they stopped to partake in a
Nelson Lagoon ritual of collecting glass balls. The trip was off the charts — rich with
adventure, rivers teeming with wild steelhead, crazy weather and a slice of adventure.
It was an experience that left an indelible impression on everyone involved. Which is
putting it mildly.
