It is possible to fish this river on your own using the Dean River Permit System, but the logistics of setting up camp is difficult. But it can be worth the effort. A tributary of the Skeena River, the Kispiox is a massive watershed in itself. It flows 40 miles and the water is big, which in turn creates big steelhead. Fortunately, the Kispiox is accessible to most people thanks to well-maintained logging roads that follow the river and Highway 16 that goes through Smithers and Hazelton.
