on what is considered your most
important piece of equipment.
Simms’ Guide Waders have front
leg seams that help eliminate
inside-leg abrasion and they’re
built with reinforced front legs,
which help when you’re busting
through the bush. These are quite
possibly the best $400 pair of wad-
ers on the market.

7 WADING BOOTS
Korkers Metalhead Boots
It’s nice to have options when
traveling, and the Metalhead
Wading Boots from Korkers gives
you just that. And a lot more. These
wading boots have the company’s
OmniTrax 3.0 Interchangeable Sole
System that allows you to swap
soles. Let’s say you’re steelhead
fishing on the North Umpqua or
the Deschutes. That’s where the
studded felt sole comes into play.
Or let’s say you’re trout fishing in
Bristol Bay and you want a rubber
sole boots. Simply swap out the
soles and you’re in business. As
for the boots themselves, they’re
designed with waterproof material
that reduces water absorption giv-
ing you a faster dry time. The Boa
lacing system works like a charm
giving you a snug fit with a couple
turns of a dial. They’re also de-
signed with True Fit sizing making
them one of the most comfortable
wading boots available.

9 LIGHTWEIGHT JACKET
Patagonia’s Down Sweater
It took some convincing, but when
we realized we’d need a jacket that
would keep us warm, and one that
we could fish in, we gravitated to
Patagonia’s Down Sweater. This is
really a jacket and it’s wind proof,
super warm and ultra light. Made
from European goose down feath-
ers, the shell is constructed from
100 percent recycled polyester
material. Aside from keeping you
warm while in the bush, what
makes this even more attractive is
that is folds into itself to make for
easy packing. It literally rolls into a
ball the size of a dinner plate and
you can stick it in your day pack
without it taking up too much
room.
