do anything special. I suggested the crew
dress up in grass skirts since we were cruising
in Tahiti, and perhaps watch “South Pacific”
on the outdoor movie theaters. That day, they
set up a hike for us, and when we returned to
the yacht, they launched their surprise: the
entire second level of the ship was decked
out with South Pacific decorations, complete
with a local three-piece Tahitian band, tropical
cocktails, fire dancers and singers. We had a
complete private show, and all we could say
afterward was, “Wow!”

KK: Antarctica is truly amazing. You first
fly to King George Island, so you don’t have
to sail through the rough Drake Passage. On
a private yacht, there are no boundaries, so
you’re able to explore more of the islands than
a cruise ship would. We met many of the local
scientists doing research, and they personally
showed us their research stations. We had up-
close encounters with thousands of penguins
who often came right up to us, curiously
pecking at our feet. My favorite moment,
though, was when we encountered 12 playful
orcas who came right up to our ship.

for pearls in Tahiti, having lunch at a palace
with a princess in Sicily and close encounters
