TOP INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS TO CELEBRATE
RIO DE JANEIRO: If you’re looking for a
party, there’s none bigger or wilder than Rio
de Janeiro’s Réveillon. The world’s largest New
Year’s bash is a giant festival of live music,
dancers, and a colorful fireworks display over
the ocean. Cap it all off with breakfast on the
beach, because this bash lasts long after the
sun rises.

THE BAHAMAS: January 1st is the Bahamian
version of Mardi Gras, and the party lasts from
the night well into the next day. In Freeport,
Nassau, Alice Town, and other cities across
the islands of the Bahamas, Junkanoo street
parades erupt in colorful costumes, music,
and interactive street performances. If the
winter has you lusting for someplace warm
to celebrate, the beaches of the Bahamas will
not disappoint.
SYDNEY: If you like to show up first to the
party, celebrate New Year’s in Sydney, the first
metropolitan city to see the New Year. It’s one
of the largest fireworks displays in the world,
complete with an aerial acrobatics show, a
parade of over 50 illuminated boats, and an
Aboriginal cultural ceremony on the water.
Set amongst the iconic Sydney Harbour, this
celebration could be the highlight of your year.
TRAVEL OFFICE TIPS
“
The Aussies love a spectacular show, and New Year’s Eve never fails to
impress. Fireworks off the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, off of barges in the
harbor, behind the Opera House—the entire harbor lights up with the display.
And because Sydney is family friendly, there is an earlier, smaller fireworks
display for younger celebrants. Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!”
