Local Connect Secret If you want to travel the local way and connect to the natives, don’t stay in chain hotels with tourists. Stay in B&Bs and chat with the owners and staff. Rent an apartment and go shopping for your meals. Try making a meal or two yourself with ingredients you buy from local vendors. Ask the shopkeepers and their customers for suggestions on local attractions. Eat and drink where the locals do. Hostel stays are a great way to connect and relate with the locals. Source: Reddit. Eat-Well-in-theAir Secret Airlines tend to under-stock on food to decrease craft weight. They seem to always run out of the best menu items halfway down the aisle at mealtime. Don’t go hungry: Eat before your flight, or bring your own food. Or, order a special meal when you book your flight–it could be vegetarian, kosher, or anything that gets your meal off the main food cart coming down the aisle. Two things happen when you do this: your meal is served first, before the full cabin service starts, and the food tends to be fresher. Source: www.independenttraveler.com. Wine-tasting Secret A wine’s aroma is a very important part of its character. Avoid wearing perfumes or colognes with heavy fragrances that conflict with this aroma to ensure you catch every little detail hidden in the glass. Do also pay attention to your surroundings, as fragrances around you can affect the taste of the wine. Source: A Luxury Travel Blog 28  Travel Secrets September-October 2015
