Name: Anna Rostokina
City: Belgrade, Serbia
3 Gifts I would pick: Ajvar, Ratluk, and local
design items

Ratluk
Let’s just be honest: there’s no
better gift from Serbia than food
and it doesn’t get better than
Ratluk. The word is a popular
short version of rahatlokum,
internationally known as Turkish
Delight. Small cubes made of
starch-and-sugar gel with various
flavours are typically eaten with
Turkish-style coffee.
My Secret: Ratluk is widely
available in shops but the right
place to buy it is Bombonzija
Bosiljcic in 14 Gavrila Principast.
This family-run sweet shop,
opened in 1930, makes traditional
types of ratluk with such flavours
as rosewater, Bergamot orange,
walnut, and plum. Better trust the
GPS or a map because the place is
a bit difficult to find and the shop
name is written in the Serbian
Cyrillic, but the taste is worth the
effort. The price range is from 200
to 300 dinars (Rs 120 to 175) per
package.
