Yehliu Geopark, Taiwan
Of all the scenic wonders in Taiwan, the most
spectacular are the rock formations at Yehliu Geopark.
Stretching far out into the East China Sea, this limestone
cape attracts geologists and fascinated day trippers for
its delightfully odd rock formations. Known as “hoodoo
stones,” these stunning, fragile rocks are shaped like
mushrooms, beehives, ginger, candle sticks and tofu.
The most famous of them all is the Queen’s Head, a
4,000 year old mushroom rock bearing an uncanny
resemblance to Queen Elizabeth, as if carved out by
Michelangelo himself. Take a picture with Her Majesty
before stepping out of the Park, where a row of
restaurants promise fresh seafood.
