Tabaq maz, fresh saffron rice and
Goshtaba, dishes typically prepared
only as part of the special Wazwan
celebrations. For dessert we had firni
(a special dessert pudding made of
rice, raisins, nuts, saffron and milk)
and a pot of Kahwa (Kashmiri green
tea). Each houseboat has an attached
cook boat at the rear from where the
food is served to the visitor lodging in
the boat. The cook boat is moored at
the stem of the main boat which also
houses the servants.
The houseboat is a true home-like
experience. Our meals were made to
order; all we had to do was give the
