Dear Ed

Dear Ed,

I am a grade 11 from a small town in Southern

Ontario. I read about studying in France with the

Blyth International Summer Program and want to

go. The problem is I don't have a friend that I can

ravel with. Am I crazy to go alone so far from home?

-John

Dear John,

No of course not! The majority of students that travel on these trips do actually travel alone. If you travel alone you will be able to make decisions for yourself and will not have to depend on your friend, who might not have the same interests as you. Studying abroad and alone allows you to meet an entire new group of people and not always be tied down to only one person, the entire trip.

-Ed

Dear Ed,

I want to study in France but I am scared

to do a hard course like English or French

while travelling. Should I just stay home

and take summer school in my home town

so I can get a good grade?

-Jenny

Dear Jenny,

Of course you can always stay home and take summer school but where is the fun in that? By staying home you will limit yourself opportunities and adventures. Travelling abroad consists of experiential learning. Life outside a classroom is much more exciting than if you are stuck inside all day. Studying in France will be an amazing experience and being able to live and experience everything you are leaning will be very beneficial to you in the future. There should be tutors on your trip to answer any of your questions along the way and if you are worried about going alone, don’t be! The majority of students who study abroad, believe it or not travel alone!
