Columbia River Maritime Museum
Take a leisurely 5 minute walk to the
Columbia River Maritime Museum. Here
you will meet our guide who will provide an
exploration of the facilities. Discover the
history of Crossing the Bar, known as one of
the toughest and most treacherous routes
in maritime history. Explore actual ships that
were destroyed during the river crossing.
View artifacts and learn what makes this
specific area so dangerous and feared by
even the most experienced sailors.
Cape Disappointment State Park
In the morning, take a scenic excursion
through Astoria as we journey to Cape
Disappointment State Park. Explore the
impressive Lewis and Clark Interpretive
Center. Situated on the cliffs 200 feet
above the Pacific Ocean, the center
commemorates the Corps of Discovery’s
1804-1806 expedition.
Witness live demonstrations, an interactive
film, and a variety of exhibits dedicated to
Lewis and Clark. The impressive mural-sized
“timeline” panels guide you through the
exhibit, while featuring many of the actual
sketches, paintings, and photographs of the
Corps members.

Heritage Museum - Visit Astoria’s Old
City Hall building, a neoclassical structure
designed by prominent Portland architect
Emil Schacht in 1904. It is home to the
Historical Society’s Archive and local
history museum. Clatsop County’s rich and
exciting history is featured in the museum’s
permanent and changing exhibit galleries.
Flavel House Museum - Experience the
elegance of the late Victorian period by
touring the home of Captain George Flavel.
The 1885 Queen Anne home features
original Eastlake influenced woodwork,
period furnishings, and exotic hardwood.
Astoria Column Exploration
Dedicated by the Great Northern Railway in
1926, the Astoria Column, a unique work of
Northwest art, serves as a monument to the
native people of the region. Standing at the
top of the Column, not only do you have an
unparalleled scenic view, but you can also
envision the awe experienced by the first
people to live in this corner of the world.
