The Proper Fit

Statistics show that 80 percent of women wear the wrong size bra. But other than comfort and fit, why is it so important that you have a proper fit? Many women forget that weight gain / loss, pregnancy, aging, etc. all affect the fact that your breasts are continuously changing sizes. Or, have you been uncomfortable for so long that it has become “normal”?

Continuous wear of an improperly fit can cause more than simple discomfort. The truth of the matter is that wearing the wrong size bra can lead to many health problems.

Scarred Breast Tissue.

Many women’s breasts swell and fluctuate in size during their menstrual cycle. Wearing an

already improperly fitting bra can cause added discomfort and even scarring. Overtime, a bra that is to tight can create a scarring underneath or on each side of the breasts, where the wire or band has dug into the flesh. If the underwire of your bra is poking into your underarm, then

your cups are too small and you should move up a cup size.

Bad Posture\

Women who wear the wrong size bra may have problems with posture which may lead to back and neck pain.

Gravity can be your breasts worse enemy. Your breasts are tissue that are attached to your chest muscle. When improperly supported, gravity gradually pulls the tissue off the muscle. This extra weight can make you front-heavy, pulling your posture forward. Thus causing the lower back and neck pain. Also, the weight from your breast stretch the skin. Stretching your neck and ultimately yur lower chin.

Over the next few months we will stress the importance of breast health. Transitons Magazine will also host a series of events, allowing you oppportunities to be properly sized and have professional breast exams.

Ladies, let's be proactive about our health, and not reactive.
