Kathy calmly looked at me and quietly reached under her desk
and pulled out a gray can, with a big “eye” on it. She told me her
Mother had given it to her 30 years ago to teach her that she
could do anything in life. She told Kathy there was no “I can’t”
there was only “I can.” I turned the can over and on the back were
these words.
“The I CAN concept”
You hold in your hand a concept of the first (and most
difficult) requirement necessary for achieving success--the concept
that you can do anything you want to do, no matter how difficult
the goal or whatever the handicap--by convincing yourself of the
truth that “I CAN!” As far as is known, no one has ever described
the shape, size or color of an “I Can’t.” “I Can’t” must be one of
the two things--either “I don’t know how” or “I won’t.” Both can be
remedied. You now, tangibly, can see, feel, touch and describe the
secret for accomplishing your fondest dreams by believing strongly
enough that “I CAN!” Use this power wisely.
We need but be like the bumblebee: Scientists can prove
that it is aerodynamically impossible for the bumblebee to fly--its
body is too heavy and its wings too light to sustain flight. Since
the bumblebee, however, chooses not to be affected by this
sophisticated opinion--he flies, he works, he achieves!

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS…..
This magazine is dedicated to human need and the
encouragement of the spirit through faith and communication. I
have always believed in God’s divine networking-but this story is
so amazing. I had to share it with you all.
I met Kathy Gutterez from The Secret Garden only a week ago.
We really hit it off and talked for hours about everything under the
sun. Our common denominator always got back to the heart, the
strength in truth, and helping people in need.
Kathy mentioned that she really wanted to do something to help
people. She was going to donate some of her beautiful clothes
to Hill Country Cares for battered women .I casually mentioned
that I had started an organization in San Antonio about 8 years
ago called” I-Can”: Intercessory Community Action Network
.It’s purpose was simply to be there-to stand in the gap, for any
human need.
Whether a person was experiencing a severe mental illness,
family violence, a medical crisis, financial devastation,
homelessness, etc, I-Can would be available by a 1-800 number
to help steer people in the right direction to get help. I never really
got the organization off the ground because it involved a lot of

I didn’t know what to say. Somehow I wanted to cry. I was so
humbled by how God works through people who have a purpose.
At that moment Kathy and I decided we would go forward with
“I-can” and launch the organization in Gillespie County. It was that
easy-and that profound.
So, with great honor, I am announcing the launch of “I-Can” in our
next issue. We are looking for 50 volunteers to man the phones.
We are looking for clothes, transportation, food, housing and just
good old fashioned love and care. We will announce our 1-800
number in our July, August issue and will be up and ready to goto help, to heal, and to provide a support system for people who
have nowhere to turn. We are not waiting for corporate me
