Training News April 2014 | Page 2

As a team we work across the whole Trust. Our purpose is to deliver training and education to over 3000 staff, across both Mental Health and General Health services. So that is in-patient and community based settings. We are based in Priory House in Wells as a Learning and Development Deprtment, and also in The Exchange in Bridgwater where Learning Curve do their thing.

Learning Curve provides innovative training programmes for charities, social enterprises, education, voluntary and private organisations. They are an extension of the Learning and Development team, and they work to provide bespoke training package for other, mostly non-NHS, organisations throughout the county.

We are based in two locations, in Wells are Vicky, Katie, Tara, Fran, Leonie and Sarah. Grant, Pip, Cyra and Bev are often out and about delivering training across the Trust although they are based in Wells. Phoebe and Romy are the managers of the team who are based in Wells. Jess is also a manager of the team, based largely in Bridgwater along with Laira and Laura who are the administrators for Learning Curve.

There is also Sue, Rita, Steve, and soon Coby, who deal with the students in the Trust, as well as the newly qualified nurses who are undertaking the precepteeship course.

Finally there is the PMVA team, who work mostly out of the purpose fitted PMVA unit in Bridgwater. Spence and Michelle are the full time trainers, with Nick and Gary stepping in when they are needed.

As you can see in the infographic on the next page, we had a very busy 2013, and are expecting to have an equally busy 2014

We intend to profile members of the team in future issues, and also to look in more depth at how different parts of the team operate, and what exactly they contribute to the functioning of the team.

“And I also felt that no one in an audience could abuse me worse than the sort of abuse I had had at work as a psychiatric nurse!
