COLUMN - What's Next?

Below I’ve highlighted the steps that can help us achieve this:

1. We need to start with what the business is trying to achieve and isolate the behaviors that will help drive those results.

2. Then, we need to dissect current training content, pull out the critical learning points and review models to understand which are most likely to be implemented.

3. We then simplify wherever possible and make the learning time about participants exploring, rather than just listening, with a heavy focus on action back in the workplace.

4. Importantly, we must measure results and keep modifying until we get the right balance of tools and techniques in every training hour.

There are programs out there that are already designed to work in this way, for example companies like MindGym have been using the latest research to produce powerful punches of learning, kept amazingly simple, for 14 years. They are the Intel of the training world.

In our world of Training and Development we can’t avoid or ignore this trend any longer, our clients and bosses will be expecting more learning in less time with more results.
