Don’t just train them on the skills required for the job. Embrace a more holistic training approach.

For example, you may need to offer them meditation, life coaching, communication, time management, and other soft skills training, and counselling. You may also want to go the extra mile and train them on personal issues like successful parenting, marriage, nutrition, fitness, weight loss, etc.

3. Create Systems

Turning every business operation into a systemized process makes it easier and faster to learn and achieve the required results. When you create systems for everything, you rely less on the skills and more on the system to get things done, almost like the skilful worker would do it.

Systemization is like turning your business into a franchise model. You simply hand the business manual to the franchisee and he will get the same results you were getting while managing the business. You can systemize all business functions. Marketing, customer service, sales, operations, accounting, etc. All these functions can be turned into a step-by-step process that anyone with basic skills can do. And when you hand the system to a passionate worker, they PERFORM and go the extra mile!

4. Encourage Knowledge Sharing

Create a family like environment in the workplace that encourages skilful workers to share their knowledge with their peers.

You may implement an award or a recognition program that highly compensates those who build a second level workforce that share their skills and knowledge. Many people don’t want to share everything they know because then they will lose their specialty. That’s why you need to embed and emphasize in your culture that those who share are those who are most rewarded.

Passionate people have a natural tendency to share their passion and everything they know about it with others. With the proper compensation program, they will be the best mentors ever! Let your competitors fight for the rare skilful talents, and take the easier and more effective path of looking for passionate people who will give the job all what they have got.
