Lack of youth-friendly harm reduction services and programmes
One of the biggest challenges for young drug users is the lack of youthfriendly harm reduction services. Harm reduction programmes are often geared towards older adult clients and service providers often are limited in resources and capacity to extend their services to young people. In Youth R. I. S. E./ International Harm Reduction Association’ s Report on the Conventions of the Rights of the Child, a report that focuses on young people’ s rights and their need to access to harm reduction services, all 14 countries represented in the report identified that the lack of youth-friendly harm reduction services is one of the primary barriers for young people.
