First: Accept that this is a great time to slow down. Our schedules are busy; we have no time to slow down, right? Wrong.
Mercury’s lesson is that we do not take the time to consider the way we express ourselves.
If you had to measure each word that came from your mouth for content and purpose, what would that sound like? Would you be pleased or embarrassed? Our words impact everyone on some level, often bringing an intent we did not mean.
Weigh your words with deep care. Fully understand the context before you speak or write. Watch how the things you say are taken and commit to hearing as well as talking. Hope this becomes a habit that carries through when Mercury is not teasing us.
Second: Be kind to yourself. In my opinion, the inner dialog is more harmful than the external. We tend to believe ourselves when we are in self-critical mode. Opinions from the outside become part of the hurtful inner mantras that circulate through our thought.
When Mercury is in Retrograde, pause to consider where these sudden, self-denigrating attitudes come from. Have they always been there, hidden away, ready to leap out and attack?
Third: Take this time to explore the layers of Self that are emerging. Clear up any misunderstandings you have built within yourself. Excise old wounds, breath clarity into old patterns to enable the creation of new, positive possibilities.
Mercury Retrograde can be your best friend, your wise inner voice and your guidance counselor, if you let him. What’s that? When is the next time for Mercury Retrograde? You are eager to change? You want to face the craziness and sort it all out? You want to become stronger and filled with courage?
