You’ ve probably heard the phrase“ FOS” uttered several times at den meetings and roundtables.“ FOS,” or Friends of Scouting, is the council’ s annual fundraising campaign.
During the campaign, a volunteer visits your pack blue and gold banquet or troop court of honor to explain the campaign and make an appeal for your support. You’ ll be asked to make a tax deductible donation to the council.
Why should you give to Friends of Scouting? Many parents do not realize the $ 24 annual BSA registration fee goes directly to the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America, and unit dues stay with the unit. None of that money goes to help the Moraine Trails Council.
Last year, contributions from FOS funded repairs to the pool at Camp Bucoco and Agawam, initial renovations to the Snyder Service Center, 2 new pavilions at Bucoco and more!
Your FOS contribution also goes to things such as:
• New activities / programs( like Lego WeDO 2.0).
• Accident & Insurance coverage.
• Camp scholarships.
• Reference publications and materials.
• Camp rangers / caretakers at Bucoco and Agawam
It takes a great deal of resources and financial support to deliver the Scouting program. And it can’ t happen without the support of volunteers like you. Thank you.
