Just a reminder to please follow the correct procedures for registering both youth and
adult leaders so as to avoid creating duplicates in Scoutbook. As many of you may
have experienced already, it is very difficult and time consuming to remove a dupli-
cate from Scoutbook!!
We ask that you DO NOT enter information about any new Scout or Leader in
Scoutbook until you have turned in their completed, signed and dated Application
and payment to Council offices. Just entering them in Scoutbook does not register
them.
Once our Registrar has “officially” registered an individual, and within 24 to 48
hours, that person’s assigned BSA Member ID and profile will automatically transfer
over to their unit’s Scoutbook roster. Please note…the process does not work in re-
verse…if you enter them in Scoutbook first, the information does not show up in Na-
tional’s (Council’s) database. Also note that the Registrar does not have the ability
to correct the duplication problem once it occurs. Only one of the unit’s Key 3
(Chartered Org. Rep.; Committee Chair; Cubmaster or Scoutmaster) can handle it.
So, let’s all work together to stop the problem before it happens by following ap-
proved registration procedures. If you have any questions or need additional infor-
mation, please contact Mary Ann Skero, Registrar, at 724/287-6791, Option 3.
