DESCRIPTION OF KIELCE
Woolen flower shawl, usually red, adorned with
tassels, is worn by both the maiden and the
married woman. Under the veil, the wife puts on
a swimming cap, while the girl fastens flowers
from the side. The collar and cuffs of the white
shirt decorate the cross-stitch with geometric
motifs. Short woolen vest with a baskina, put on
a shirt, is bound with a red ribbon. Woolen skirt,
smooth or striped, is belted with a woolen
sheath sewn from homespun into red and black
stripes. If the day is cold, a resident of the
Świetokrzyskie Mountains wears a shoulder
pad, sewn from the same material as the
waistband. Festive mid-calf leather shoes and
strings of red beads complete the outfit.
