Preparing the FX Global Code for the AI era

The Global Foreign Exchange Committee( GFXC) continues to discuss what’ s front of mind for the next iteration of the FX Global Code, confirming that artificial intelligence is securely on the agenda as it looks ahead toward the forthcoming review – set for 2027.

The strengthening of the FX Global Code has arguably never been as pertinent as it is currently, given the pace of innovation, persistent geopolitical uncertainty, and continued fragmentation across the markets.

In June, the Global Foreign Exchange Committee( GFXC) met in Toronto to discuss what’ s front of mind for the next iteration of the Code and what must be prioritised to strengthen it.
Ahead of the 2027 review, several topics were up for debate, however, notable amongst discussions was a focus on not just the impact of innovations, but whether AI developments in particular warrant changes to the Code.
