MEDECOS is an international conference organised under the
auspices of ISOMED, the International Society of Mediterranean
Ecology. ISOMED promotes research and education to advance
the understanding and conservation of the world’s five regions
with Mediterranean-type climate regimes, all of which are
recognized as globally significant hotspots of biodiversity.
The MEDECOS conferences focus on the ecology and
evolution of Mediterranean ecosystems and their species. By
uniting scientists and students whose research centres on
Mediterranean-climate ecosystems, participants gain insights
into the similarities and differences in how these ecosystems
function, change and evolve.
In 2020, the FYNBOS FORUM will combine with MEDECOS to
host MEDECOS 2020/ FYNBOS FORUM 2020.
