What Made You Choose Fashion Designing a Career?
Since childhood, I have had a fierce love for creativity. I have always been passionate so I use to indulge myself in lots of
creative activities where I can satisfy myself and enjoy the work. This urged me to opt for fashion designing.
Why You Choose Bollywood?
I didn’t choose Bollywood, Bollywood chooses me. When I was pursuing fashion designing, one of my friends who was
directing the show ‘Apne Mere Apne’ on DD national in 2008, called me and offers me to do his show. I grabbed that
opportunity as a costume designer. After that, I never stop working and always keep exploring creativity.
What were the Difficulties You Faced While Entering in Bollywood?
Neither there was any God-father of mine in Bollywood nor assist by any big designers. That time what was prevailing in
the industry was that male designers were not getting a job until they have fame and also producers have the mentality that
female designers are far superior then male designers. In fact, most of the designers ruling the industry are male.
How was Your Experience in Your First Movie?
In 2009, I got a chance to showcase my passionate knack for creativity through the movie named ‘Dhuaan’ but sadly it was
not released due to some cause. There I designed costumes for legendary actors like Raj Babbar, Padmini Kolharpuri, Rati
Agnihotri and lots of big stars. It’s always a good feeling to see a celebrity wearing your creation.
How Many Projects have You Done Till Now?
Well, I have done 21 movies so far. Some are released and some are yet to be released. Some of the released ones are Love
Recipe, Impatient Vivek, Bezubaan Ishq, Chapekar Brothers. Some Marathi movies are ‘Sadarakshanay’ which got many
screen awards, Rannbhoomi, Gulabi directed by Guddu Dhanoa, Fekamfaak, Priyanka Chopra’s Production ‘Kay re
Rascala’ and much more. Even I have done one Arabic movie called “Gehim Fel Hend”. And also, did more than 15 serials
and many commercial ads.
