DARPA Robotics Challenge
Held from 2012 to 2015, the DRC is the biggest and the most funded event where robot systems and
software compete to develop a human-supervised robot capable of better responding to natural and
man-made disasters and executing complex tasks in dangerous, degraded, human-engineered
environments. The winning team receives the grand prize funded by the US Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency. The DRC attract the world's smartest and most accomplished roboticists. DARPA’s role
is to encourage innovation. For more information visit https://www.darpa.mil › Program Information
DARPA Robotics Challenge 2015: On June 5 and 6, DARPA Robotics Challenge 2015 held at the
Fairplex in Pomona, California. After years of intense research and head to head competition in front
of thousands of spectators, the team Kaist of Daejeon, Republic of Korea, and its robot DRC-Hubo
takes first place with the $2 million prize money in hand. At second place, the team IHMC Robotics of
Pensacola, Fla., and its robot Running Man takes away the prize money of $1 million. And the Tartan
Rescue of Pittsburgh, and its robot CHIMP, the third comer earns the $500,000 prize. This was not the end
of the robotics challenge instead it was the beginning of a bright future where robots can work alongside
people to reduce the toll of disasters. For more details refer https://www.darpa.mil › Program Information
