them feel worthless and that the memories will always be in their minds. Depression occurs because of the low self-esteem that they have developed from low-feeling moments in childhood. Many people do not know that those compulsive spray tans are harmful to the child's body in a multitude of ways. The chemical used in spray tans is an acid called DHA which not only an enemy to the inner layers of skin, but inhaled DHA goes into the lungs and through the bloodstream. DHA has been tested and can cause mutations in DNA, which can lead to cancer. Many mothers force pageantry upon children, but little do they know that they are slowly derailing their daughter's lives.

Children involved in pageantry almost always end up having mental issues. Beauty pageants pressure girls to “be the best of the best” and make them obsessed with developing a fairytale version of themselves. What has the world come to since the girls on "Toddlers and Tiaras" are beautiful? What has society come to that mothers are now dressing up their five year olds in twenty-year old clothing and heavy makeup? What is our society doing to our future generations?

Whether it is a ginger comedian, Carrot Top’s dramatically lifted eyebrows; Katie Piper’s facial acid nightmare; or the reconstructed face of Joan Rivers; cosmetic surgery is always in demand. Whether it be: Botox, a face lift, a breast augmentation, or liposuction, people are always looking for ways to improve their personal appearances. Is it necessary to improve our qualities that do not need fixed and are God given? People should not get plastic surgery just because celebrity influences and convincing advertisements make them feel self-conscious, but for medical issues that need to be treated.

On each side, society is responsible for the world of manipulation, guilt, perfectionism, and judgement that surrounds us. It seems as if people set unrealistic, perfect expectations,
