Co2 Lasers CO2 Lasers The CO2 laser, otherwise known as the carbon dioxide laser, was one of the earliest gas lasers developed and is to date, one of the more commonly used. These lasers are the highest-power, continuous wave lasers that are currently available, running on a wavelength of 10,600nm. These lasers are used primarily for marking organic materials, and are also able to cut through various materials such as acrylics, papers, fabrics etc. The key features of the CO2 laser include: Ÿ Available in various wattages Ÿ Lowest initial cost compared to other types of lasers Ÿ Air cooled Ÿ Marks various substrates including plastics, woods, leather, 10 glass and even metals (with the assistance of an additive) Ÿ High quality and high speed Ÿ Ÿ marking No consumables are required Minimal maintenance is required
