Stormwater Education brochures and pamphlets are placed at local libraries , recreation centers , City Hall , and other city facilities for Arlington residents .

Additionally , the Stormwater Educator provides to residents USB flash drives that contain a variety of education material . For example , Garden Club USB drives contain IPM and Landscaping and Gardening brochures along with the Texas Smartscape and Native Plant society plant lists for the North Texas region . Apartment Complexes receive USB drives that contain Flood Safety and Awareness brochures and Stormwater Pollution prevention for Apartment Complexes along with Cease-the Grease information , a listing of non-flushable items , flood services pamphlets , and details on how to report illegal dumping . USB drives are also disseminated to the general populous . This method of material distribution provides Arlington residents with pertinent stormwater information and reduces reliance on printed materials . Most brochures are available in Spanish and Vietnamese upon request . A total of 166 USB drives were disseminated during the reporting period .

Inlet Decal Program :

The City of Arlington continues its inlet decal program , developed in 2015 , to help reduce flooding attributable to clogged storm drain pipes and to improve water quality throughout the City . Inlet decals are placed on neighborhood inlets that have been identified as flood prone by Stormwater Maintenance personnel . When illegal dumping or clogged inlet concerns are reported to the city , Stormwater Maintenance will place inlet decals on the identified inlet and a stormwater violation door hanger on nearby properties as needed . Environmental Compliance Officers are notified if the location is or becomes prone to repetitive illegal dumping . The Stormwater Educator maintains a database that includes the inlet location , Cartegraph OMS asset number , and the number of decals and / or door hangers placed , along with any site-specific notes .

In FY 2016 , a total of 482 inlet decals were placed on storm drains throughout the city . Five ( 5 ) citizen concerns were reported to the Stormwater Maintenance Crew which resulted in the placement of twelve ( 12 ) door hangers at adjacent residences .

Apartment Program :

The City of Arlington continues it Apartment complex outreach program , created in 2015 , to provide Arlington Apartment complex managers and mobile home park managers with printed information concerning stormwater pollution prevention , flood safety and awareness , and water resource management . This program is an effort to prevent sanitary sewer overflows and educate residents regarding surface water quality and flood safety . A total of nine ( 9 ) hard copies of both departments ’ brochures were provided to managers to give to their residents or the material is provided on USB flash drive . If requested , copies are emailed to managers for future use .
