As part of efforts to advance Jamaica’ s tourism sector and enhance the visitor experience, on Monday July 24, 2017 the new Devon House I-Scream shop was officially opened. The new building which is located on the north lawns of the historic site, was created, not only to improve the experience for both visitors and locals alike but also address complaints of wait time. The building which will replace the courtyard location and other Kiosks on the property was funded by TEF at a cost of 28 million dollars and its construction managed by TPDCo. Minister Bartlett in his address stated that there will be more to expect regarding plans to upgrade the popular historic site. He added that there are plans to build out the Caribbean experience with culinary tourism at Devon House, by giving focus to the delicacies offered by other business places on the property. Most Honourable Edward Seaga who is known for saving Devon House from demolition and for his integral role in the creation of some of the popular flavours, expressed his gratitude to the Minister and the other agencies for the improvements and upgrades to the historic site.
